I have a fleet of 50 Escort Carriers and my 3 starting scouts. The fleet is not getting the 50 escort ship bonus though.

"If you have 50-550 escort ships with at least 5 sensors and 1 weapon slot, they will contribute to the speed and stealth of ships of the line and capitol ships." :Side note: *capital Tongue

So, I was under the impression the entire fleet needed at least 5 sensors. It seemed odd but 5 sensors and 1 weapon on each ship is completely ridiculous considering their limited number of slots to begin with.

So, am I missing something?

I think the 5 sensors is 5 sensor rating rather than selecting 5 sensor slots.
Do your escorts have a much greater speed rating than the ships you are wanting to bonus? I think normally its when your bonus points in speed are 70%=100% equal to the capital ships base speed that you start to see really significant bonuses...
Ofc, I cant remember if it was fixed that you actually SEE the bonus being applied, or if its still broken? Thats a question for somebody else

If you want to maximize a speed or stealth bonus, then make heavy corvettes... 1 hull, 1 shield, 1 sensor, 1 weapon (beam is best) and the rest in engines and/or stealth.  50 is a minimum build... 80-100 is better to safely keep the bonus in combat.  Don't make them with stealth if your SotL or CAP line has no stealth.

Ah, so it's not as simple as it sounded then. Thanks for the answers.

And btw, yeah you can see when you get the bonus. At least with scouts. In the other galaxy I was in I had the scout bonus for escorts.

I have 30 Carriers all of which have sensors over 55 and more than 3 weapon slots but the bonus is not coming up. A couple of the ships took damage from taking a system though and dropped below 55 sensors, is that the problem? I thought they had to be destroyed to not count towards the bonus.

Yaps.

Class targeting and bonuses no longer apply with damaged ships & reduced stats.
